A box and whisker plot is a summarized graph summarizing, the five numbers, minimum, lower quartile, median, upper quartile and maximum. While the portion covering lower quartile, median and upper quartile appears as a box, minimum and maximum data points show up as whiskers at the two ends (see figure below)
An, box and whisker plot is basically used if ur doing an explanatory data analysis Aka (math on an number line) the way it’s uses median is if the numbers that you were given is ordered from least to greatest and you would cross out left and right to see what number is left if you have two numbers left then I think you would add the two numbers then dived by two to get ur median. Plus, the way box and whisker plot uses the quartile to see which number is the least or the greatest and what number is out of the ordinary.
