Why does copper and aluminum conduct electricity in the solid state unlike ionic and molecular compounds?

Chemistry

Aluminium and copper will conduct electricity because their free electrons can roam about while electrons in the other substances or involved in the bonding process itself. Metallic bonds form because of the attraction of negative free electrons and positive cations that are fixed. The bond is maintained as the unattached electrons are shared.

If you were to react 4.3 miles of magnesium phosphide how many moles of potassium would you need?
bixtya [17]

Answer:

25.8

Explanation:

Let's write the reaction between magnesium-phosphide and potassium:

Mg3P2 + K = Mg + K3P

And now let's balance this equation:

Mg3P2+6K=3Mg+2K3P

We see that the ratio of magnesium-phosphide and potassium is 1:6, which means that for every mole of magnesium-phosphide there need to be 6 moles of potassium.

Since we have 4.3 moles of Mg3P2, there need to be 6 • 4.3 = 25.8 moles of potassium.

A molecule has sp2 hybridization with 1 lone pair.... The electron pair geometry of this molecule is: ... The geometry of this m
MrRa [10]

Answer:

The electron pair geometry is Trigonal planar

Molecular geometry - Bent

Approximate bond angle - <120°

Explanation:

The valence shell electron pair repulsion theory enables us to predict the shapes of molecules based on the number of electron pairs present on the valence shell of the central atom and based on the hybridization state of the central atom.

sp2 hybridization corresponds to trigonal planar geometry. Let us recall that the presence of lone pairs causes a deviation of the molecular geometry from the expected geometry based on the number of electron pairs.

Hence, owing to one lone pair present, the observed molecular geometry is bent.
