Explanation:  Plantation owners preferred white servants and African slaves to American Indian workers because both white servants and African slaves were superior in numbers to these, since many of them perished, victims of diseases such as smallpox, fever Yellow and cholera among others. Besides the white servants, they were considered as such and not slaves, since they worked for a salary; African slaves were his property and because of their racial status they were considered inferior to American Indian workers whom many masters considered undesirable servants and who were subsequently forced to live in reserves established by the United States government because of their ethnicity.
