Describe the acid-catalyzed second slow step in the hydrolysis of an ester.

Answer:

Described in the explanation with image attached.

Explanation:

Let's talk about what happens in the first step before we highlight the second step;

In the first step, the ester would take a positive hydrogen ion from the hydroxonium ion and thus the hydrogen ion will become attached to one of the lone pairs on the oxygen that is double - bonded to the carbon.

That process leads to the second step which involves an attack on the carbon.

I have attached the structure that shows the positive charge on that carbon.

From the attached image, we see that the positive charge on the carbon atom is attacked by one of the two lone pairs of the oxygen from a water molecule.

Now, what i did was that I made oxygen to carry the positive charge on the right-hand side because there will have to be a positive charge somewhere since we had one attached to C at the beginning. So I put the positive charge on that oxygen because it has 3 bonds attached to it directly.

Energy waves traveling at the speed of light are called _____.
koban [17]
RADIATION

There are three types of heat transfer or heat propagation; conduction, convection and radiation. Heat transfer is the process by which heat projects externally however, depending on the temperature and pressure. Also called the movement of heat from a low temperatured state which increases as heat progresses.
Conduction is the heat transfer by contact, immediate contact.
Convection is the transfer of heat through air and water.

A ball of mass 0.15 kg is dropped from rest from a height of 1.25 m. It rebounds from the floor to reach a height of 0.960 m. b)
Art [367]

Answer:

Explanation:

If v be the velocity just after the rebound

Kinetic energy will be converted into potential energy

1/2 m v² = mgh

v² = 2gh

v = √ 2gh

= √ 2 x 9.8 x .96

= 4.33 m / s

In a rainstorm with a strong wind, what determines the best position in which to hold an umbrella?
AVprozaik [17]

Answer:

It is best to hold the umbrella at an angle which is parallel to the direction of rain drops.

Explanation:

Velocity of vector of rain drops plays crucial role here. Direction of the wind causes the rain drop directions. Hence handle of the umbrella should be parallel to the direction of rain drops. there will be more umbrella area if we keep umbrella in the direction.

A car traveling in a constant speed of 55km/h on a circular track what is the acceleration explain
a_sh-v [17]

Answer:

See the explanation below

Explanation:

We must solve this problem by defining that when we have a constant velocity, the acceleration is equal to zero. That is, when there is no speed change, there is no acceleration. We can understand it very easily by means of the following equation of kinematics.

v_{f}=v_{o}+a*t

where:

Vf = final velocity = 55 [km/h]

Vo = initial velocity = 55 [km/h]

a = acceleration [m/s²]

t = time [s]

As we can see there is no change in speed, and the difference between the two is equal to zero.

0 = 0 +a*t\\a = (0-0)/t\\a= 0
