She made her mistake at the first step. To simplify a radical, you would find two numbers that multiply by each other to get your original number (under the radical) and have one of the number be a perfect square.

Her reasoning is wrong because 10*10 is not \sqrt{50}. Had she been correct, her answer should have been able to be squared to equal \sqrt{50}

In other words, she should have done \sqrt{25*2}= \sqrt{25} * \sqrt{2}=5 \sqrt{2}
(We used 25 because 25 is a perfect square, 5*5=25).

The measure of an angle is 39°. What is the measure of its complementary angle?
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer:

51 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

Complementary angles are two angles whose sum is (90degrees). If one is given an angle measure and needs to find its complementary angle, then all one has to do is subtract the given angle measure from (90degrees).

90 - 39 = 51

How would logx (49) = x look like in exponential form
Ivanshal [37]

I'm assuming the given log equation is \log_{\text{x}}(49) = \text{x}

If so, then the exponential form is \text{x}^{\text{x}} = 49

This is because the general form \log_{\text{b}}(\text{x}) = \text{y} transforms into \text{y} = \text{b}^{\text{x}}

For both equations, the 'b' is the base.

An antelope can run a speed of 61 miles per hour. What is this speed in yards per second? Round to the nearest hundredth
DochEvi [55]

Answer:

= 29.82 yards/second

Step-by-step explanation:

The speed is given in the problem.  We just need to convert its units.  The multiplicative identity (that is, 1) may be used to change the units without changing the value.  (note:  do you know what the additive identity is?)

     61 miles per hour

    (61 miles) / (1 hour)

   (61 miles)/(1 hour)*1

   ((61 miles)/(1 hour))*((5280 feet)/(1 mile))

   ((61 miles)/(1 hour))*((5280 feet)/(1 mile))*((1 yard)/(3 feet))*((1 hour)/(60 minutes))*((1 minute)/(60 seconds))

      note:  miles, feet, hours, minutes cancel out; leaving yards per second

    (61/1)*(5280/1)*(1/3)*(1/60)*(1/60)   yards/second          (note: I write that way to paste into Excel)
