Think of it this way: the more cells an animal has, the more likely it is to reproduce sexually. It means that an animal is more likely to be complex. Most complex organisms are, like humans, monkeys, and dogs, the more likely we are to reproduce smaller incrimants of offspring through cells. Plants are less complex, so it would make sense that they would produce asexual and produce more offspring.
