An engineer performs a flow test of a cooling water system. The test equipment hooks into flow elements in the system. There are

32 flow elements. For each flow element she needs two 3 feet lengths of polyflow tubing with quick release connectors on each end. Both lengths of polyflow tubing plug into a test gauge to measure the flow across each flow element. Each test gauge is $80. The 3/16" polyflow tubing is $6.00 for 100 feet The connectors are $2.50 each. The budget for the test is $3,000.00. After buying the necessary equipment, how much under budget should she be?

Each flow element requires a test gauge ---> 32*80 = $2560

Each flow element needs total of 6 feet of tubing  ----> 32*6 = 192 ft
price per foot = 6/100 = $.06
-----> 192*.06 = $11.52

Each 3-ft length of tubing requires 2 connectors. ----> (192/3)*2 = 128
-----> 128*2.5 = $320

Total Cost = 2560 + 11.52 + 320 = $2891.52

Subtract from budget:
3000 - 2891.52 = $108.48

Gary needs to solve 120 problems by a certain day. He calculated, that to finish all the problems in time, he needs to solve 5 p
kozerog [31]

Answer:

To be done in time, he would need to solve 6 questions per day on the days that he is not on trip

Step-by-step explanation:

If he solves the problems 5 per day, the total number of days that would be required to finish solving the problem would be 120/5 = 24 days

Now, he has 4 free days which would be for a family trip. The number of questions that he would miss during those trip days will be 4 * 5 = 20 questions

Now since he wants to still finish on time, what is needed to be done is to share the 20 left overs amongst the 20 days which he has to work

This makes a total of 1 question per day

Adding this to the 5 questions per day he has before will be = 6 questions per day

Use the counting techniques from the last chapter. A bag contains three red marbles, four green ones, one fluorescent pink one,
sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

The probability that she gets all the red ones, given that she gets the fluorescent pink one, is P=0.0035 or 0.35%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Susan grabs four marbles at random.

We have to calculate the probabilities that he picks the 3 red ones, given that she already picked the fluorescent pink.

If it is given that the fluorescent pink is already picked, we are left with three red marbles, four green ones, two yellow ones, and four orange ones. A total of 13 marbles.

The probability that the second marble is red is 3 in 13.

The probability that the third marble is also red is 2 (the red marbles that are left) in 12 (the total amount of marbles left), as there is a picking without replacement.

The probability that the fourth marble is 1 in 11.

Then, the probability that the 3 red marbles are picked, is:

P=P_1\cdot P_2\cdot P_3=\dfrac{3}{13}\cdot \dfrac{2}{12}\cdot \dfrac{1}{11}=\dfrac{6}{1716}=0.0035
