Answer: Tom's age is 40 and Bob's age is 38.

To answer this problem, you must write the 2 equations given in the directions.

They could be:

t - b = 2   and    b = 3t - 82

Input the second equation into the first equation at the variable be and solve.

t - (3t - 82) = 2
t - 3t + 82 = 2
-2t + 82 = 2
-2t = -80
t = 40

So Tom is 40. And since t - b = 2, Bob must be 38.

Task 1:
laiz [17]

Answer:

The toy's maximum height is 10.12\ \text{feet}.

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation that models the toy's height in feet from the ground at t seconds after  he threw it is given by :

h = -2t^2 + 7t + 4 .....(1)

It is required to find the toy's maximum height. For maxima or minima, put

\dfrac{dh}{dt}=0

Plugging the value of t in above equation,

\dfrac{d(-2t^2 + 7t + 4)}{dt}=0\\\\-4t+7=0\\\\t=\dfrac{7}{4}\\\\t=1.75\ s

Now put t = 1.75 s in equation (1) such that,

h = -2(1.75)^2 + 7(1.75) + 4\\\\h=10.12\ \text{feet}

So, the toy's maximum height is 10.12\ \text{feet}.

I’m confused on this one
Ghella [55]

In a parallelogram, the opposite angles will be congruent to each other.

In this parallelogram, angles B and C are congruent, and angles A and D are congruent.

We will work on angles B and C first. Set the two angles to equal each other:

12x + 6 = 6x + 66

Subtract 6 from both sides:

12x = 6x + 60

Subtract 6x from both sides:

6x = 60

Divide both sides by 6 to get x by itself:

\boxed{x = 10}

x will equal 10.

Set angles A and D to equal each other:

54 = 3y

Divide both sides by 3 to get y by itself:

\boxed{y = 18}

y will equal 18.

The x and y values that make this quadrilateral a parallelogram will be x = 10, and y = 18.
