When chlorine gas and hydrogen gas react to form hydrogen chloride, what will be the change of enthalpy of the reaction?

Chemistry

Explanation:

Reaction between chlorine and hydrogen gas will take place as follows.

           Cl_{2}(g) + H_{2}(g) \rightarrow 2HCl(g)

Since, standard enthalpy of Cl_{2}(g) is 0 kJ/mol and H_{2}(g) is also 0 kJ/mol. \Delta H_{HCl} is -92.30 kJ/mol.

Hence, change in enthalpy will be calculated as follows.

                \Delta H = \Delta H_{products} - \Delta H_{reactants}

                                       = (-92.30 - 0) kJ/mol

                                       = -ve

Also, formation of bonds is taking place between both chlorine and hydrogen atoms. As a result, heat will be released during this process.

Thus, we can conclude that change in enthalpy will be negative.

<u>Answer:</u> The K_{sp} for calcium hydroxide is 5.324\times 10^{-6}

<u>Explanation:</u>

To calculate the concentration of acid, we use the equation given by neutralization reaction:

n_1M_1V_1=n_2M_2V_2

where,

n_1,M_1\text{ and }V_1 are the n-factor, molarity and volume of acid which is HCl

n_2,M_2\text{ and }V_2 are the n-factor, molarity and volume of base which is Ca(OH)_2

We are given:

n_1=1\\M_1=0.0983M\\V_1=11.22mL\\n_2=2\\M_2=?M\\V_2=50mL

Putting values in above equation, we get:

1\times 0.0983\times 11.22=2\times M_2\times 50\\\\M_2=0.011M

The concentration of Ca(OH)_2 comes out to be 0.011 M.

The balanced equilibrium reaction for the ionization of calcium hydroxide follows:

Ca(OH)_2\rightleftharpoons Ca^{2+}+2OH^-

The expression for solubility constant for this reaction follows:

K_{sp}=[Ca^{2+}][OH^-]^2

Putting the values in above equation, we get:

K_{sp}=(0.011)\times (2\times 0.11)^2

K_{sp}=5.324\times 10^{-6}

Hence, the K_{sp} for calcium hydroxide is 5.324\times 10^{-6}

How many σ bonds are there in each molecule ethane ethylene acetylene?
aalyn [17]
The  sigma  bonds  are  formed  when  orbitals  overlap  side  by  side  and  is  related  to  covalent  bond  In  ethylene  the number  of  sigma   bond  are  5.
Reason,  carbon  has  four  carbon -hydrogen  bond  which  form  four  sigma  bond.  The  other    sigma  bond  is  between  carbon=carbon  bond  thus  ethylene  has  5  sigma  bond

Calculate the number of atoms in 3.21 mole of Mg?
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

<h2>1.93 × 10²⁴ atoms</h2>

Explanation:

The number of atoms in a substance can be found by using the formula

<h3>N = n × L</h3>

where n is the number of moles

N is the number of entities

L is the Avogadro's constant which is

6.02 × 10²³ entities

From the question we have

N = 3.21 × 6.02 × 10²³

We have the final answer as

<h3>1.93 × 10²⁴ atoms</h3>

Hope this helps you
