In a recent research poll, 83.4% of 500 randomly selected men in the U.S. knew the name of our current vice president. When 500

randomly selected women in the U.S. were asked, 79% knew the vice president’s name.
(a) Construct and interpret a 95% confidence interval for the true difference in the proportion of U.S. men and the proportion of U.S. women who know the name of our current vice president.

(b) Based on this confidence interval, is there convincing evidence that the true proportion of men who know the name of the current vice president is different than the true proportion of women that know the name the current vice president? Explain.

Answer:

a) (0.834-0.79) - 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.834(1-0.834)}{500}+\frac{0.79(1-0.79)}{500}}=-0.00435

(0.834-0.79) - 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.834(1-0.834)}{500}+\frac{0.79(1-0.79)}{500}}=0.0924

The 95% confidence interval for the true difference of proportions is given by (-0.00435;0.0924)

b) For this case since the confidence interval contians the value 0 we can't conclude that the true proportion of men who know the name of the current vice president is different than the true proportion of women that know the name the current vice president at 5% of significance

Step-by-step explanation:

Part a

Since our interval is at 95% of confidence, our significance level would be given by \alpha=1-0.95=0.05 and \alpha/2 =0.025. And the critical value would be given by:

z_{\alpha/2}=-1.96, z_{1-\alpha/2}=1.96

The confidence interval for the difference of proportions is given by the following formula:

(\hat p_1 -\hat p_2) \pm z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p_1 (1-\hat p_1)}{n_1} +\frac{\hat p_2 (1-\hat p_2)}{n_2}}

Replacing the info given we got:

(0.834-0.79) - 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.834(1-0.834)}{500}+\frac{0.79(1-0.79)}{500}}=-0.00435

(0.834-0.79) - 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.834(1-0.834)}{500}+\frac{0.79(1-0.79)}{500}}=0.0924

The 95% confidence interval for the true difference of proportions is given by (-0.00435;0.0924)

Part b

For this case since the confidence interval contians the value 0 we can't conclude that the true proportion of men who know the name of the current vice president is different than the true proportion of women that know the name the current vice president at 5% of significance

Solve the equation for y. Then find the value of Y for each value of X.
Hunter-Best [27]

Answer:

y=9-7x

If x= -1, y=16

If x= 0, y=9

If x=2, y= -5

Step-by-step explanation:

Because you are solving the equation for y, you want to have y by itself on one side. The only way to do that in this problem is by subtracting the 7x on both sides.

y+7x=9

-7x -7x ---> y=9-7x

The next part of the question says to find the value of Y for each value of X. Using the given X values, we plug them into the equation we just got in order to find Y.

y=9-7(-1) ----> y=16

y=9-7(0) ----> y=9

y=9-7(2) ----> y=-5

Find the coordinates of the centroid of triangle RST. SHOW YOUR WORK so I can see if the answer makes sense (no links)
zimovet [89]

Note the coordinates of each point: R(-4, 5), S(5, 1), T(2, -3).

The centroid is the point whose coordinates are the average of the coordinates of R, S, and T.

<em>x</em>-coordinate: (-4 + 5 + 2)/3 = 3/3 = 1

<em>y</em>-coordinate: (5 + 1 - 3)/3 = 3/3 = 1

So the centroid is (1, 1).

solmaris [256]

Answer:

4608

Step-by-step explanation:to find volume you need to multiply.In this case we need to multiply 12*16*24 which equals 4608.

12*16=192*24=4608

Ruben bought 6 new books for his collection. This increased his collection by 12%. How many books did he have before his purchas
Norma-Jean [14]

Answer:  The required number of books that Ruben had before purchases is 50.

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that Ruben bought 6 new books for his collection that increased his collection by 12%.

We are to find the number of books that Ruben had before purchases.

Let x denotes the number of books that Ruben had before purchases.

Then, according to the given information, we have

x+6=x+12\%\times x\\\\\\\Rightarrow 6=\dfrac{12}{100}x\\\\\\\Rightarrow 6=\dfrac{3x}{25}\\\\\\\Rightarrow 3x=150\\\\\Rightarrow x=\dfrac{150}{3}\\\\\Rightarrow x=50.

Thus, the required number of books that Ruben had before purchases is 50.
