Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovary.  The egg travels down the Fallopian tube in anticipation of fertilization (union of egg and sperm).  Once the egg and sperm meet, the resulting body is referred to as a Zygote.  Implantation results when the zygote lodges (implants) in the wall of the endometrium (uterine lining) so that it can be supported and grow to maturity.
