The equation in B is true.

We know this in two ways. Firstly, we know since it sold 86 items, that we have the amount of hot dogs (h) and then the amount of lemonade would be (86 - h), or how ever many is left over after the hot dogs.

The second way we can know is by looking at the equation algebraically.

(86 - h) + h = 86

86 - h + h = 86

86 = 86 (TRUE)

Let h be the number of lemonade sold. If the vendor sold 86 items today and h of them are lemonade, then the rest are hot dogs, so he sold 86-h hot dogs.

When you add the number of sold lemonade and hot dogs, then you get 86 items in total:

h+(86-h)=86.

This equation is exactly the same as equation

(86-h)+h=86.

Moreover,

1. if a snack cart sells lemonade for $2, then he gets $2h for h sold lemonade;

2. if a snack cart sells hot dogs for $5, then he gets $5(86-h) for (86-h) sold hot dogs.

In total he gets $330, then

2h+5(86-h)=330.

Both these equations are true, but only first is among given options.

Answer: correct choice is B.

What is matrix X if 0.5X=A? Matrix A=[6 -12 4 6].
vladimir1956 [14]

Answer:

See attachment

Step-by-step explanation:

The given matrix equation is:

0.5X = A.

To find Matrix X, we need to multiply both sides of the equation by 2 to obtain:

2 \times 0.5X =2 \times A

This simplifies to;

X = 2A

By scalar multiplication, we multiply each entry in the matrix A by to 2 to obtain matrix X.

Jessica has 48 coins, some of them are nickels and some are dimes. How many of each does she have if she has $3.25 total? 69 POI
Mrrafil [7]

Answer:

Nickels = 44.6

Dimes = 3.4

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that Jessica has 48 coins of which some are nickels and some are dimes so we can write it as:

n = amount of nickels

d = amount of dimes

n+d=48 --- (1)

We are to find the number of nickels and dimes if their total worth is $3.25.

Since a dime is worth 10¢ and a nickel is 5¢, so it should be:

0.05n + 0.3d = 3.25 --- (2)

From (1):

n=48-d

Substituting this value of n in (2) to get:

0.05(48-d) + 0.3d = 3.25

2.4-0.05d+0.3d=3.25

2.4+0.25d=3.25

0.25d=0.85

d=3.4

Finding n by substituting the value of d:

n=48-d

n=48-3.4

n=44.6
