The class has a lizard and a frog. The lizard eats the same number of insects each day. The frog also eats the same number of in

sects each day. On day one, the lizard eats fourteen insects and the frog eats ten insects. On day five, the lizard has eaten five times the number of insects he ate on day one. How many insects has the lizard eaten on day five? On what day will the frog have eaten the same number of insects the lizard ate on day five? Show all your mathematical thinking.

I remember these lol. Now, to find the amount the lizard ate on day five we just multiply the amount he eats, per day, by five. The work for this is 5x14=70. The frog eats 10 insects per day, so if we divide 70 by 10 we'll have the amount of days it will take for it to have eaten the same amount of insects the lizard ate on day five.

In a recent survey, 60% of the community favored building a health center in their neighborhood. If 14 citizens are chosen, find
andreev551 [17]

Answer:

Probability that exactly 5 of them favor the building of the health center is 0.0408.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that in a recent survey, 60% of the community favored building a health center in their neighborhood.

Also, 14 citizens are chosen.

The above situation can be represented through Binomial distribution;

P(X=r) = \binom{n}{r}p^{r} (1-p)^{n-r} ; x = 0,1,2,3,.....

where, n = number of trials (samples) taken = 14 citizens

         r = number of success = exactly 5

        p = probability of success which in our question is % of the community

              favored building a health center in their neighborhood, i.e; 60%

<em>LET X = Number of citizens who favored building of the health center.</em>

So, it means X ~ Binom(n=14, p=0.60)

Now, Probability that exactly 5 of them favor the building of the health center is given by = P(X = 5)

        P(X = 5) = \binom{14}{5} \times 0.60^{5} \times (1-0.60)^{14-5}

                      = 2002 \times 0.60^{5} \times 0.40^{9}

                      = 0.0408

Therefore, Probability that exactly 5 of them favor the building of the health center is 0.0408.

A team won 9 of its first 12 games. At that rate, how many games will the team win if it plays 64 games in all?
Feliz [49]
9 out of 12 = 9/12 which can be simplified to 3/4.  So the team wins 3/4 of its games.  3/4 of 64 = 64 divided by 4 = 16.  16 x 3 = 48.
