What is 47,300 in scientific notation?
agasfer [191]
There's always a decimal at the end of a whole number. here it's behind the last zero. move that decimal so that the non-zero digit is less than 10 but more than 1.
4.73, the decimal was moved 4 places to the left. so the scientific notation is
4.72X10^4

If i randomly pick a polynomial, is it more likely to have real roots or complex roots?
Vinil7 [7]
I would say you are more likely to have complex roots.  If you think of graphs of polynomials, if you draw a function that doesn't pass through the x-axis, all roots are complex.

\bf \sqrt{20k^3}\qquad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;20=2\cdot 2\cdot 5\\&#10;\qquad 2^2\cdot 5\\&#10;k^3=k^{2+1}\\&#10;\qquad k^2\cdot k^1&#10;\end{cases}\implies \sqrt{2^2\cdot 5\cdot k^2\cdot k}\implies 2k\sqrt{5k}

Write the standard form of the equation of the line through the given point with the given slope. Through (-2,5), slope =-4
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{4x+y=-3}

Step-by-step explanation:

The point-slope form of an equation of a line:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

<em>(x₁, y₁)</em><em> - point on a line</em>

<em>m</em><em> - slope</em>

<em />

We have

m=-4,\ (-2,\ 5)\to x_1=-2,\ y_1=5

Substitute:

y-5=-4(x-(-2))\\\\y-5=-4(x+2)

Convert to the standard form

Ax+By=C

y-5=-4(x+2)                <em> use the distributive property</em>

y-5=(-4)(x)+(-4)(2)

y-5=-4x-8               <em>add 5 to both sides</em>

y-5+5=-4x-8+5

y=-4x-3               <em>add 4x to both sides</em>

4x+y=-4x+4x-3\\\\4x+y=-3
