Answer: B. His sons, Malcolm and Donalbain

Both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are intent on killing Duncan, although Macbeth hesitates more. However, the desire to be king is stronger, and Macbeth stabs Duncan while he is asleep. The next morning, Macbeth pins the murder on the chamberlains and kills them. He assumes the kingship. Duncan's sons, Malcolm and Donalbain, flee to England and Ireland, as they are scared they will be killed as well. This makes it easy to consider them as the primary suspects of the murder.

How is the bolded word being used? After the police came to her rescue, Mrs. Jenkins thanked them gratefully. adverb preposition
beks73 [17]

Answer: C) subordinating conjunction.

Explanation: a subordinating conjunction is a word that joins a dependent or subordinate clause (a phrase that doesn't have complete meaning on its own) with an independent clause (it has complete meaning on its own). There are subordinating conjunctions that show a relationship between two clauses involving a transition of time or place. In this case, "after" is a subordinating conjunction joining the independent clause "Mrs. Jenkins thanked them gratefully" and the subordinate clause "After the police came to her rescue."
