Two high-speed ferries leave at the same time from a city to go to the same island. The first ferry, the Cat, travels a

t 30 miles per hour. The second ferry, the Bird, travels at 24 miles per hour. In how many hours will the two ferries be 6 miles apart?

Answer:

1 hour

Explanation:

Since the definition of velocity is v=x/t, we can calculate the position at time t of an object moving at speed v with x=vt.

The position of the first ferry is x_1=v_1t

The position of the second ferry is x_2=v_2t

We want to know when they will be 6 miles apart. This means, if we call that distance d, that we want to know when the difference between their positions will be d, or x_1-x_2=d (we know that at the beginning the position of the ferry 1 is of higher value than that of ferry 2 since it left before).

We use our previous formulas then:

d=x_1-x_2=v_1t-v_2t=(v_1-v_2)t

Since we want the time, we do:

t=\frac{d}{v_1-v_2}

And substitute our values:

t=\frac{6\ miles}{30\ miles/hour-24\ miles/hour}=\frac{6\ miles}{6\ miles/hour} =1\ hour

Atoms are electrically neutral because there are an equal number of protons in the nucleus and In the cloud around the nucleus
Alborosie

Answer:

Atoms are electrically neutral because there are an equal number of protons in the nucleus and In the cloud around the nucleus.

Explanation:

  1. The atoms that are the building block of matter consist of protons, neutrons, and electrons.
  2. The protons are positively charged and the electrons are negatively charged particles.
  3. The neutrons are negatively charged particles.
  4. The atoms in its stable natural state consist of an equal number of protons and electrons.
  5. Thus an atom has a neutral charge in its natural state.

Suppose that it takes 0.6 seconds for a mass on a spring to move from its highest position to its lowest position. What is the p
o-na [289]
The mass on the spring is bouncing.

We would call it a wave-like motion, except that it all stays in the same place.  But, just like a wave, moving from the highest position to the lowest position
is one-half of a full wiggle.

(The other half consists of moving from the lowest position back up to the
highest position, where it started from.

So, half of the wave-like motion takes 0.6 seconds.

A full cycle of the wave motion ... the actual period of the bounce,
is double that much time . . .

Explain how sound travels from your vocal cords to your friend’s ear when you talk
AysviL [449]

Answer:

Your vocal cords vibrate and then travel through the air to your friends ear. ... loudness is a humans perception of sound intensity, as intensity of a sound wave increases the loudness of a sound wave increases.

~+lil more info+~

Sound waves enter the outer ear and travel through a narrow passageway called the ear canal, which leads to the eardrum. The eardrum vibrates from the incoming sound waves and sends these vibrations to three tiny bones in the middle ear.

The formula v = √ 2.3 r models the maximum safe speed, v , in miles per hour, at which a car can travel on a curved road with ra
Archy [21]

Answer:

562 miles per hour.

Explanation:

As given in the question, the formula for the maximum speed on a curved road is

v=\sqrt{2.3} r

Given value of r=370 feet

So the maximum safe speed will be

v=\sqrt{2.3} \times 370 = 1.52\times 370 = 562.4 miles per hour.

Rounding off to the nearest whole number we get the maximum safe speed at the curved road is 562 miles per hour.
