Since F=m•a, you want to show that a = -5.5

Since the truck was in motion before the brakes were applied, it will decelerate within the 4s before coming to a stop. Hence the acceleration is -a\:ms^{-2}.

When the truck comes to a stop, It will have a final velocity of v=0\:ms^{-1}.

Also the initial velocity is 22.0 m/s. This means, u=22.0\:ms^{-1} and time,  t=4s.

We can use the relation,

v=u+at

to determine the acceleration of the truck.

Let us now plug in all the values to obtain,

0=22.0+(-a)(4)

\Rightarrow -22.0=-4a

\Rightarrow \frac{-22.0}{-4}=a

\Rightarrow a=5.5 ms^{-2}

Using the relation,

F=ma

the magnitude of the braking force is

F=2000 \times 5.5 N=11000N

Explain when the median of a data set is a better<br> measure of center than the mean.
Delvig [45]

Answer:

The median of a data set is better when you have a term or terms that are not close to the other terms

Step-by-step explanation:

For example:

Say you have the data set

1, 15, 17, 18, 22, 84

The median of these terms would be 17.5

       (it is the exact center of the data group)

17 + 18 = 35

35/2 = 17.5

The mean of these terms would be 26.17

    (this number is not close to the center because the numbers 1 and 84

      are not close enough to the other terms)

1 + 15 + 17 + 18 + 22 + 84 = 157

157/6 = 26.17

Find the area of the triangle whose vertices are (2, 3); (-1, 0); (2, -4)...
Neko [114]

Answer:

Area = 14.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's label the given coordinates A, B, C;

Thus;

A = (2, 3)

B = (-1, 0)

C = (2, -4)

From the coordinate geometry formula, the formula for area of a triangle with 3 vertices is;

Area = [Ax(By - Cy) + Bx(Cy - Ay) + Cx(Ay - By)]/2

Area = [2(0 - (-4)) + (-1)(-4 - 3) + 2(3 - (-4))]/2

Area = 29/2

Area = 14.5

Given functions f and g, find f-g.
Eva8 [605]

Answer:

-5x-5

Step-by-step explanation:

original functions:

f(x)=3x-8\\g(x)=8x-3

Subtract the polynomials:

f(x)-g(x) = (3x-8) - (8x-3)

Distribute the negative sign:

3x-8-8x+3

Combine like terms:

(3x-8x)+(-8+3)

Add like terms:

-5x-5
