k is the y-coordinate of the vertex of the function. That vertex is located at (1, -2.5).

The value of k is ...

... A. k = -2.5

Answer:

k=-2.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given is a graph V shaped two straight lines symmetrical about x=1

Hence the function willbe of the form

f(x) = |x-1|+k

To find k

When x=1, we find the graph has a minimum at (1,-2.5)

Substitute x=1 to find f(1)

f(1) = |1-1|+k=0+k=k

Since f(1) = -2.5 from the graph we have

k =-2.5

Option a is right

Cross Multiply by 'x - 5'
Hence
y(x - 5) = 4 -3x
xy - 5y = 4 - 3x

Move all the terms containing an 'x' to one side of the equals and all the others to the opposite side.
xy + 3x = 4 + 5y
Factor out 'x'
x(y + 3) = 4 + 5y
'Cross' divide by 'y + 3'
x = ( 4 + 5y) / (y + 3 )

'x' is now the subject.

If the point (1, 5) lies on a circle whose center is at the origin, what is the equation of the circle?
makkiz [27]
In this case just change the variables by the numbers. (1,5)
x=1 y=5
1^2 + 5^2 = 26
1+25=26
26=26 *this one is the answer...
TRUE

x2 + y2 = 16
1^2 + 5^2=16
1+25=16
26=16
False

x2 + y2 = 13
1^2 + 5^2=13
1+25=13
26=13
False

x2 + y2 = 11
1^2 + 5^2=11
1+25=11
26=11
False

So we can say that the first one is the answer.

Two sides of a triangle measure 20 cm and 30cm. What is the third side?
Naily [24]
Hi there!

It depends on what angles there are, and how many degrees are in each angle. In order to figure this problem out, you need to know at least one angle ;)

Hope this helps!
