Answer:

What motivated early migration to North America was religious persecution in England.

The way for migrants to get there was to be hired as servants of colonial leaders.

Explanation:

The Colonies in North America originate from the founding of the city of New Plymonth (Massachussets) in 1620 by the "mayflower pilgrims", Puritans who fled England due to religious persecution and established a pact according to which the government and the laws would follow the will of the majority.

From NewPlymonth new nuclei emerged, linked to fishing, small-scale cultivation and trade. However religious intolerance led to migration to other regions and thus new colonies were founded: Rhode Island and Connecticut (1636) and New Hampshire (1638). In this region, generically termed "New England" the colonies thrived mainly on trade. One way for migrants to reach these colonies was to be hired as servants.

• Why were nuclear weapons important during the Cold War?
cricket20 [7]
Off the top of my head:

The US devised the Manhattan project during ww2 and afterwards to develop nuclear weapons. The kept this secret from USSR even though they were allied. This contributed to Stalin’s paranoia and increased tensions between the two countries.

You also mention how Truman used this ‘atomic-monopoly’ to give him confidence and make him think that he could dictate decisions during the Potsdam conference and other meetings which heightened tensions with USSR.

Nuclear weapons also played a large role during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the point where nuclear war was at it’s closest to becoming reality and destroying the world.

By that point the USSR had also developed atomic bombs. The fact both superpowers had nuclear weapons meant they had to be sensitive in the way they handled each other and you could link this with Cuba and argue that it was the only reason the Cold War didn’t turn into full-scale, physical war.

There’s other things you could say beyond these points as well.

All of the following contributed to the failure of the Sepoy Mutiny EXCEPT __________
lilavasa [31]

All of the following contributed to the failure of the Sepoy Mutiny except the numerical superiority of the British troops.

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

The Sepoy Mutiny was a rebellious movement that was stirred when the British touched the culture of Muslims and Hindus. It all started when the Sepoy where asked to load 303 rifle manually by biting the cartridge at the end.

The cartridge was greased with beef tallow and pig fat which caused a revolt because it was forbidden to touch pig fat for the Muslims and beef tallow was untouchable by the Hindus.

When India was under the British rule the British had enormous troops with well supplied war necessities. Hence the Indians were tormented. When people refused to load the gun 85 of them were imprisoned. They broke out the prison and killed all the Europeans they met in sight.
