ANSWER

The correct answer is A

EXPLANATION

The slope between each interval tells us the speed.

The greatest slope is where the speed is greatest.

For the first hour to the second hour,

slope =  \frac{34 - 12}{2 - 1}

slope =  \frac{22}{1}  = 22

For the second hour to the fourth hour,

slope =  \frac{70 - 34}{4 - 2}

slope =  \frac{36}{2}  = 18

For the fourth hour to the sixth hour,

slope =  \frac{104 - 70}{6 - 4}

slope =  \frac{34}{ 2}  = 17

For the sixth hour to the eighth hour,

slope =  \frac{146 - 104}{8 - 6}

slope =  \frac{42}{2}  = 21

Therefore the bicyclist's speed was greatest during the first hour to the second hour.

How does the graph of y= sec(x-2)+2 comparé to the graph of y= sec(x) ?
motikmotik

Answer:

The function y= sec(x-2)+2 is shifted two units to the right and 2 units upwards., compared to y=sex(x).

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this problem we need to know the rules for translation of graphs:

Given the function y = f(x):

  • y=f(x-a) is the same graph shifted 'a' units to the right. If 'a' is negative, then, the graph is shifted to the left.
  • y = f(x) - a is the same graph, but shifted 'a' units downwards. If 'a' is negative, then the graph will be shifted upwards.

In this case, our main function is y=sec(x). And the function y= sec(x-2)+2 is shifted two units to the right and 2 units upwards.
