I'm assuming that you want one or more examples of an ordered pair for the function y = f(2x).

But perhaps you meant to ask how the graphs of f(x) and of f(2x) would be different.

That "2" in f(2x) has the effect of compressing (shortening) the output of the function; the resulting graph would take up just half as much horiz. space as would that of f(x).

If the function were f(x) = x^2, then f(1) would be 1^2 = 1, and the resulting ordered pair would be (1,1).

f(2x) would be (2x)^2, or 4x^2, so that f(2*1) would be 4(1)^2, or 4.  An ordered pair would then be (1,4).

Let x = 0.

y = f(2*0)

y = 0

One point is (0, 0).

the mean age of three people is 22 and their median age is 20. the range of their ages is 16. how old is each person?
Andrej [43]
The second person must be 20 years old, since that is the median of the ages.
If the mean is 22 years, then the sum when all three added together is 66.
That means, the youngest and the oldest add up to 46 years old.

Let the oldest be x + 16, then the youngest must be x.
x + 16 + x = 46
2x + 16 = 46
2x = 30
x = 15

Since the youngest person is 15, the oldest must be 31.

Hence, the ages, from youngest to oldest, are: 15, 20, 31

Jorge's friend Anna planted a garden with the same ratio of tulips to daisies. Anna's garden has 21 tulips. How many total flowe
olasank [31]

Answer:

48 flowers

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, the ratio of tulips to daisies are the same.

Hence, if we have x number of daisies, then the number of tulips will also be x.

Therefore, with number of tulips being 21 and equal ratio of daisies will also mean that Anna has 21 daisies .

The total number of flowers will be :

Number of tulips + Number of daisies

21 + 21 = 42 flowers

How many solutions can be found for the equation 5x + 3(x − 1) = 10x − 2x − 3? None
salantis [7]
Simplify:
3(x - 1) = 8x -3
Expand:
3x - 3 = 8x - 3
Cancel -3:
3x = 8x
Move all terms to one side:
3x - 8x = 0
Simplify 3x - 8 to -5x
-5x = 0
Divide both sides by -5:
x = 0
