This was the military campground 18 miles (29 km) northwest of Philadelphia where the American Continental Armed forces spent the winter time of 1777–78 throughout the American Revolutionary War. Hunger, illness, undernourishment, and contact killed more than 2,500 American militaries by the end of February 1778.
