Answer:

8 lilies and 12 tulips flowers

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the lilies and y be the tulips flower.

Given:

Total flowers = 20

Lilies cost = $3

Tulip cost = $2

Bouquet cost = $48

Solution:

A bouquet of lilies and tulips has 20 flowers, so sum of the lilies and tulip flower is equal to 20 flower,

x+y =20 -----------------(1)

Since lilies cost $3 each, tulip cost $2 each and bouquet cost is equal to $48, so we write the equation as.

3x+2y=48 ------------------(2)

From equation 1.

x=20-y --------------(3)

Substitute x=20-y in equation 2 and simplify.

3(20-y)+2y=48

60-3y+2y=48

60-y=48

y=60-48

y=12

Substitute y=12 in equation 3.

x = 20-12

x=8

Therefore, 8 lilies and 12 tulips flowers in the bouquet.

4. Diego is thinking of two positive numbers. He says, "If we triple the first number and
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer:

3<em>x </em>+ 2<em>y</em> = 34. and two possible pairs of positive numbers are  (<em>x</em>, <em>y</em>) = (10, 2) and (<em>x</em>, <em>y</em>) = (4, 11).

Step-by-step explanation:

 Let the First positive number be <em>x</em> and second positive number be <em>y.</em>

Triple of first number = 3<em>x</em>

double of second number = 2<em>y</em>

According to question,

3<em>x </em>+ 2<em>y</em> = 34

Therefore, the equation is 3<em>x </em>+ 2<em>y</em> = 34

So the two possible pair of numbers Diego would be thinking of must satisfy the equation 3<em>x </em>+ 2<em>y</em> = 34

Now,  3<em>x </em>+ 2<em>y</em> = 34

3<em>x </em>= 34 - 2<em>y</em>

Let x = 10 and by substituting its value in above expression,

3 \times 10 = 34 - 2y

30 = 34 - 2y

2y = 34 - 30

2y = 4

y = 2

Therefore first pair (<em>x</em>, <em>y</em>) = (10, 2)

In the same way put x = 4 then,

3<em>x </em>= 34 - 2<em>y</em>

3 \times 4 = 34 - 2y

2y = 34 - 12

2y = 22

y = 11

Therefore first pair (<em>x</em>, <em>y</em>) = (4, 11)

Therefore, (<em>x</em>, <em>y</em>) = (4, 11) and  (<em>x</em>, <em>y</em>) = (10, 2) are the two possible pairs of numbers Diego could be thinking of as these both values satisfy the equation 3<em>x </em>+ 2<em>y</em> = 34.

Solve the equation below for x. -1 2(3x - 4) = 11
Lesechka [4]

Answer:

x= 37/36

Step-by-step explanation:

−12(3x−4)=11

Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation.

−12(3x−4)=11

(−12)(3x)+(−12)(−4)=11(Distribute)

−36x+48=11

Step 2: Subtract 48 from both sides.

−36x+48−48=11−48

−36x=−37

Step 3: Divide both sides by -36.

−36x

These data represent the volumes in cubic yards of the largest dams in the united states and in South America. Construct a boxpl
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

Check it below

Step-by-step explanation:

1) The Boxplot is a visual tool to easily find the quartiles of a Distribution. To construct a boxplot it's necessary to organize the data, find at least the upper (3rd Quartile) and lower quartile (1st Quartile), and register the maximum and the minimum value.

2) This graph confirms that the South American ones have much more water than the North American counterparts. Notice the Upper Quartile, (the top of the box) for the Southern ones, it's over 100,000 yrds³. And Compare to the Northern one.

What is the equation of the graph shown?
OlgaM077 [116]

<em>Greetings from Brasil...</em>

As we have a line, the function will be given by the expression:

F(X) = AX + B

where

<em>A = ΔY/ΔX</em>

<em>B = where the line intersects the Y axis</em>

Looking at the graph we have already concluded that

B = - 3

A = ΔY/ΔX

A = (5 - 3)/(4 - 3)     see attached picture

A = 2

So,

F(X) = AX + B

<h2>F(X) = 2X - 3</h2>
