The Rhizopus fungi spend most of its life cycle in the haploid state. When the fungi mycelia have colonized the bread, upright hyphae (sporangiophore) emerge. On the tip of the sporangiophore forms sporangia. In the sporangia, spores are produced by mitosis. When the sporangia bursts, the spores are dispersed.
