<u>Answer-</u>

<em>He purchased a rope of </em><em>48 ft</em><em>.</em>

<u>Solution-</u>

Let us assume the length of the rope he had originally purchased was x ft.

He used one-fourth of the x to make a bow, so the rope he used was

=\dfrac{x}{4}\ ft

The amount he left with was,

=(x-\dfrac{x}{4})\ ft

Then he used one-third of the remaining to tie up a roll of carpet, so the rope he used was

=(x-\dfrac{x}{4})\dfrac{1}{3}\ ft

Then he left with 24 ft of rope.

∵ The total amount = Amount used + Amount left

Hence,

\Rightarrow \dfrac{x}{4}+(x-\dfrac{x}{4})\dfrac{1}{3}+24=x

\Rightarrow \dfrac{x}{4}+\dfrac{x}{3}-\dfrac{x}{12}+24=x

\Rightarrow \dfrac{x}{4}+\dfrac{x}{3}-\dfrac{x}{12}-x=-24

\Rightarrow \dfrac{3x+4x-x-12x}{12}=-24

\Rightarrow \dfrac{-6}{12}x=-24

\Rightarrow \dfrac{1}{2}x=24

\Rightarrow x=24\times 2=48

Therefore, he purchased a rope of 48 ft.

Which of the following situations represents choosing a random sample? Assign each person of the population a number. Put all th
Nina [5.8K]
Answer: The first and second options are random samples.

First, assign numbers and drawing the number from a bowl would be a great way to get a random sample. Everyone has the same chance of being selected.

Second, using an alphabetical order is just like the first choice. The chances are the same for everyone.

However, in the third choice, you won't get a random sample. You will get an old and young group. Not a random group of the population.

Which is the equation of a line that has a slope of 1/2 and passes through point 0 , -2
S_A_V [24]
The general equation of a line is y = mx + b
m is given as 1/2, so we have:
y=\frac{1}{2}x+b
Plugging in the given values of x and y, we get:
-2 = 0 + b
Therefore b = -2, and the answer is:
y=\frac{1}{2}x-2

Find the volume of the pyramid below.
olganol [36]

Answer:

Option B. 192\ units^{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The volume of the square pyramid is equal to

V=\frac{1}{3}b^{2}H

where

b is the length side of the square base

H is the height of the pyramid

we have

b=8\ units

H=9\ units

substitute

V=\frac{1}{3}(8)^{2}(9)

V=192\ units^{3}
