In the San Gabriel Mountains in California, lookout station Running Deer is 18 kilometers due west of station Lazy Bear. The bea

ring from Running Deer to a fire directly south of Lazy Bear is S38.4°E. To the nearest tenth of a kilometer, how far is the fire from Running Deer?

Answer:

29.0 kilometers

Step-by-step explanation:

From the figure attached,

Lookout station Running Deer is at A, Station Lazy Bear is at B and Fire is at C.

Bearing from Running deer to Fire is S38.4°E.

Therefore, m∠SAC = m∠ACB = 38.4°

Distance between the stations Running Deer and Lazy Beer = 18 km

From the given triangle ABC,

Sin(C) = \frac{\text{Opposite side}}{\text{Hypotenuse}} = \frac{\text{AB}}{\text{AC}}

Sin(38.4)° = \frac{18}{y}

y = \frac{18}{\text{Sin}38.4}

y = 28.978 ≈ 29.0 km

Therefore, distance between Fire and Running deer is 29 kilometers.

How do you simplify this expression? <br><br> –12 ÷ 3 • (–8 + (–4)2^ the two is small – 6) + 2
Katyanochek1 [597]

–12 ÷ 3 • [–8 + (–4)² ∧ 6] + 2

According to PEMDAS, (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction) we need to solve the exponent in the parenthesis first.

-12 ÷ 3 • [-8 + 16 - 6] + 2

-12 ÷ 3 • [-8 + 10 ] +2

-12 ÷ 3 • 2 + 2

-4 • 6 + 2

-24 + 2 = - 22

Hope this helps!

Pls pls pls help if ur good with angles and sides
liq [111]

Answer:

∆PQR: Equilateral Triangle

∆PRT: Scalene Triangle

∆TQS: Isosceles Triangle

∆QNP: Right Triangle

Step-by-step explanation:

∆PQR is an Equilateral Triangle because all of its angles are equal (60°).

∆PRT is a Scalene Triangle because none of its sides are equal.

The triangle above it is equilateral, and one side length is 14, meaning all of its side lengths are 14.

This makes the top of ∆PRT 14. The hypotenuse is given and it’s 18.

The last side left is clearly shorter than both, meaning none of the sides are equal.

∆TQS is an Isosceles Triangle because 2 angles are equal.

The base angles are both 76°.

∆QNP is a Right Triangle because segment QN and PR are perpendicular, creating two 90° angles on both sides.

For number 10, I suggest using a graphing calculator or desmos to graph the points. (Or you can just add the points but I suggest graphing).

From there, you can count the length of each side.

Segment DE: 9

Segment EF: 8

Segment FD: 10

This makes ∆DEF in number 10 a Scalene Triangle because none of its sides are equal.

For number 11, I also suggest graphing the points and counting the sides.

Segment DE: 7

Segment EF: 9

Segment FD: 7

This makes ∆DEF in number 11 an Isosceles Triangle because 2 of its sides are equal.

Hope this helps! :)

What are linear equations and functions?
klasskru [66]

Linear Equations produce straight lines when graphed.

Linear Function is an algebraic equation in which each term is either a constant or the product of a constant and (the first power of) a single variable.
