<span>m/5 + 3(m - 1) = 2(m - 3)
m + 15(m - 1) = 10(m - 3)
m + 15m - 15 = 10m - 30
6m = -15
m = -15/6</span>

M/5 + 3(m - 1) = 2(m - 3)

Simplify inside the parenthesis.

m/5 + 3m - 3 = 2m - 6

Now, we need to move all variables to the left side of the equal sign, and move all isolated numbers to the other (right) side of the equal sign.

So, we need to add 3 to both sides, and subtract 2m from both sides,

m/5 + 3m - 2m = -6 + 3

Simplify.

m/5 + m = -3

Remember : m/5 is basically 1/5m :)

So, our equation now looks like this :

1/5m + m = -3

Remember, "m" is basically 5/5, because "5" is our common denominator.

So, our equation now looks like this :

1/5m + 5/5m = -3

Simplify.

6/5m = -3

Then, multiply both sides by 5/6 so that m is isolated.

5/6 × 6/5m = -3 × 5/6

Simplify.

m = -5/2 AND -2 1/2 AND -2.5

~Hope I helped!~

Find the area of the surface. the part of the hyperbolic paraboloid z = y2 − x2 that lies between the cylinders x2 + y2 = 4 and
Nadusha1986 [10]
Call the surface S; then the area of S is given by the surface integral

\displaystyle\iint_S\mathrm d\mathbf S

Parameterize the surface by

\mathbf r(u,v)=\begin{cases}x(u,v)=u\cos v\\y(u,v)=u\sin v\\z(u,v)=u^2\cos^2v-u^2\sin^2v=u^2\cos2v\end{cases}

with 2\le u\le4 and 0\le v\le2\pi. The surface element is given by

\mathrm d\mathbf S=\|\mathbf r_u\times\mathbf r_v\|\,\mathrm du\,\mathrm dv
\mathrm d\mathbf S=u\sqrt{1+4u^2}\,\mathrm du\,\mathrm dv

So the area is

\displaystyle\iint_S\mathrm d\mathbf S=\int_{v=0}^{v=2\pi}\int_{u=2}^{u=4}u\sqrt{1+4u^2}\,\mathrm du\,\mathrm dv
=\displaystyle2\pi\int_{w=17}^{w=65}\sqrt w\,\frac{\mathrm dw}8

where w=1+4u^2\implies\mathrm dw=8u\,\mathrm du

=\displaystyle\frac\pi4\frac23w^{3/2}\bigg|_{w=17}^{w=65}
=\dfrac\pi6\left(65^{3/2}-17^{3/2}\right)\approx237.69

Pensé dos números. Si los sumo obtengo 20. Si al doble del primer número le sumo 35 obtengo el segundo. ¿ qué número pensé?
SpyIntel [72]
For this case, the first thing we must do is define variables:
 x: first number
 y: second number
 We now write the system of equations:
 x + y = 20
 y = 2x + 35
 Solving the system we have:
 x = -5
 y = 25
 Answer:

The numbers are:

x = -5

y = 25

1/2*(6*1+7)+11 show the result
fomenos
Well I got 17.5
You would start with                              6x1=6
Then you would add 7:                         6+7=13
Next you would multiply 13 by (1/2):    13(1/2)=6.5
Finally you would add 11 to 6.5:           6.5+11= 17.5
