To get to school you can travel by car, bus or bicycle. If you travel by car, there is a 50% chance you will be late because the

roads are very busy. If you travel by bus, which uses special reserved lanes and the busway, the probability of being late is only 20%. If you travel by bicycle you are only late 1% of the time.
(a) Suppose that you are late one day to class. Since your teacher does not know which mode of transportation you usually use, he assumes each of the three possibilities are equally likely. If you are late, find the probability that you travelled to school that day by car?

(b) Suppose that a friend tells your teacher that you almost always ride your bicycle to school, never take the bus, but 10% of the time travel by car. If you are late, what is the new probability that you travelled to school that day by car?

Answer:

a) 16.66%

b) 5%

Step-by-step explanation:

a)

Since the teacher assumes each of the three possibilities are equally likely, then he assumes 33.33% to each one.

In this case the probability that you traveled to school that day by car would be

50%  of 33.33% = (0.5)(0.3333) = 0.1666 = 16.66%

b)

In this case, the teacher would assume

90% ride on bicycle

0% take the bus

10% travel by car

So, in this case the probability would be

50% of 10% = (0.5)(0.1) = 0.05 = 5%

Triangle ABC is transformed to create triangle MNL?
Dahasolnce [82]

Answer:

The transformation is rigid because the corresponding side lengths and angles are congruent.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have congruent triangles (not similar triangles), they will have to have the same length and angles throughout your transformation. Therefore, our answer is the 1st Option.

What is the answers to the parts 2a-2d
il63 [147K]
2a) if 1 ft³ weighs 150 lb==>the TOTAL VOLUME =5,000/150 =33.334 ft³

2b) 1 ft³ 1,728 in³. So the TOTAL volume in in³ =33.334 x 1728 = 57,600 in³

c) Volume =(1/3)(πR²).H but R = H then V= (1/3)(πR³).plug V (=57600)

57,600 = 1/3 (πR³) ==> R³ = (3 x 57600) / π ==> R = 38 in

d) Area x thickness = Volume ==> Area x 2 in = 57600 in then:
Are =57600/2 & Area =28,800 in²

The tile along the edge of a triangular community pool needs to be replaced.
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer:

Third option: 12x^2+8x+25

Step-by-step explanation:

s1=8x^2

s2=4x^2+15

s3=8x+10

Total perimeter of the pool edge: P

P=s1+s2+s3

Replacing s1, s2 and s3 in the formula above:

P=(8x^2)+(4x^2+15)+(8x+10)

P=8x^2+4x^2+15+8x+10

Adding like terms:

P=12x^2+8x+25
