Answer:- C) 1-hexene

Solution:- There are two types of hydrocarbons, saturated and unsaturated. Saturated hydrocarbons are those having with all single covalent bonds between carbons. The suffix -ane is used for naming these compounds. For example ethane, propane etc. Unsaturated hydrocarbons are those having with double or triple covalent bonds between carbons. There might be one or more multiple bonds. The suffix used for naming hydrocarbons having double bonds is -ene (examples:- Ethene, propene, butene etc) and for triple bonds it is -yne(examples:- . Ethyne, Propyne, 1-Butyne etc)

The first given name is 2-methylheptane. Here the ending is -ane means all single bonds between carbons and so it is saturated hydrocarbon.

Second given name is 3-ethylpentane. Here also, the ending is -ane means it is also saturated hydrocarbon. Third given name is 1-hexene. Here, the ending is -ene means double bond between two carbons(first and second carbons) so it is unsaturated hydrocarbon. Fourth given name is cyclopentane. Here, the ending is -ane and so it is saturated hydrocarbon.

So, the only correct choice is C) 1-hexene.

What is an ideal gas equation?

The ideal gas law (PV = nRT) relates the macroscopic properties of ideal gases. An ideal gas is a gas in which the particles (a) do not attract or repel one another and (b) take up no space (have no volume).

According to the question, the given reaction is -

2NO(g) + O₂(g)--->2NO₂(g)

Since at STP one mole of a gas occupies the volume of 22.4 L.

As given in the question -

9 L of NO, i.e .

22.4 L = 1 mol

1 L = \frac{1}{22.4 mol}

For 9 L =\frac{1 X 9L}{22.4 mol} = 0.40 mol

From the chemical reaction,

The Oxygen is in excess, hence NO becomes the limiting reagent, and will determine the moles of the product.

Hence, 2 moles of NO will produce 2 moles of NO₂.

Therefore, 0.40 mol of NO will produce 0.40 mol of NO₂.

Hence, the volume of NO₂ can be calculated as -

1 mol = 22.4 L

0.40 mol = 0.40 X 22.4 L = 9 L

Hence, 9 L of the NO₂ was produced.

How do scientists use light-years?
sveticcg [70]

Answer:

Scientists don't actually measure astronomical distances in light years. Rather, they measure them in a unit called the Parsec , and only convert to light years when they're talking to the general public . One light-year is the distance light travels through space in one year.
