We know that renting the car will cost $30, regardless of whether you drive it any where or not
So far
C = $30
On the end of this equation, we want to be able to add another value, that can vary depending on the quantity of M (number of miles)
The second value is $0.05 multiplied by how many miles are travelled
Also expressed as $0.05M

Finally, just fix the two parts together

C = $30 + $0.05M

Answer:

150 students.

No

.20

3/10

Step-by-step explanation:

What you do for the first one is you take 1,500 and times it by 90%. You will get 1,350. You will then take the 1350 and minus it from 1500 to get 150 students.

The next one says that he drilled a hole that is 5/9 inches wide. He has a drill bit that is 5/6. Will the drill bit be big enough. No because 5/9 is .556 and 5/6 is .833.

For the next one all they want you to do is look at the fruit percentage and put it into a decimal which is .20.

The next one they want the fraction that represents 30% which is 3/10.

A rectangular solid with a square base has a volume of 4096 cubic inches - determine the dimensions that yield the minimum surfa
Bumek [7]

Answer:

side of base, a = 10.1 inches, height, h = 40.1 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of rectangular solid, V = 4096 cubic inches

Let the side of base is a and the height is h.

V = a^2h\\\\4096 = a^2 h ..... (1)

surface area of the solid

S = 2a^2 + 4 ah \\\\S = 2a^2 + 4 \times a \times \frac{4096}{a^2}    from (1)\\\S = 2a^2 + \frac{4096}{a}\\\\\frac{dS}{da}= 4 a - \frac{4096}{a^2}\\\\4 a - \frac{4096}{a^2} = 0 \\\\a^3 = 1024\\\\a =10.1 inches

So, h = 40.2 inches
