Yes it is important because self esteem is confidence and if parents never motivate their children/child than how will the child ever have trust/confidence in his/or her self. That's why its important for parents to guide their children into good paths and encourage them all the way like a runner in a track runs and the fans are cheering his name, they're doing this so the runner can keep moving forward and never give up, so same with parents, they are emotionally cheering their child on all the way.
