A)40% 0f 140 = (4/10)*140=56

b) dicount=12.5% 0f 240 = (12.5/100)*240=30
so, u pay (240-30)= 210

The first answer is 56.

Find what 40% is by multiplying 140 x .40

The second answer is £210

Find what 12.5% is by multiplying 240 x .125
Then subtract that answer from 240.

Remember that 1 m = 1,000 mm.

So everything looks (16,000)/(50) = <u>320 times</u> as big on the screen
as it is on the film. That's called the scale factor.

The penguin is 35 mm high on the film. He'll look 320 times bigger on the screen.

(320) x (35 mm) = 11,200 mm = <u>11.2 meters</u> high
