  Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease probably caused by the accumulation of beta-amyloid peptide in the brain. AD is the leading cause of dementia in the elderly people. These abnormal synuclein deposits are called Lewy bodies. Misfolded synuclein in Lewy bodies triggers more misfolded synuclein, resulting in the formation of more Lewy bodies. Brain damage results from the accumulation of Lewy bodies. Lewy bodies also is develop in some people with Alzheimer's disease,
