Can somebody help teach me how to solve quadratic equations? I have no idea what to plug in. Here are some examples of what I ne
guapka [62]
The best method that will work for any quadratic equation is to use the quadratic formula: x = (-b±√(b² - 4ac))/2a, this will work for any quadratic of the form ax² + bx + c = 0.

As for the last equation in the attachment, that is a cubic equation, these are much trickier to solve and as such the formula is much longer and very complicated. Therefore it is easier to see if it can be broken down into a linear term and a quadratic. This can be done by substituting integer values of x into the equation to see if it holds true. If both sides of the equation are equal for a given value of x then the equation ax³ + bx² + cx + d can be rewritten as (Ax + B)(px² + qx + r). This can then be put into the quadratic formula mentioned above.

The area of a square is 5 far more than the perimeter. Find the length of a side.
sweet [91]

The length of a side of square is 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Area of square = a²

Perimeter of square = 4a

According to given statement;

Area of square = Perimeter + 5

a^2=4a+5\\a^2-4a-5=0

Factorizing the equation;

a^2-5a+a-5=0\\a(a-5)+1(a-5)=0\\(a-5)(a+1)=0

Either,

a-5=0         => a=5

Or,

a+1=0         => a= -1

As length of a side cannot be negative, therefore,

Length of a side of square = 5

The length of a side of square is 5.

What set of Transformations are applied to parallelogram ABCD to create A'B'C'D'?
bearhunter [10]

Answer: a) reflected over x-axis and reflected over y-axis

Step-by-step explanation:

Reflection over the x-axis changes the sign of the y-coordinate

Z = (x, y)   →   Z'(x, -y)

Reflection over the y-axis changes the sign of the x-coordinate

Z' = (x, -y)   →   Z''(-x, -y)

A = (-4, 1)     →     A'' = (4, -1)

B = (-3, 2)    →     A'' = (3, -2)

C = (-1, 2)     →     A'' = (1, -2)

D = (-2, 1)     →     A'' = (2, -1)
