Answer:

The Battle of Trenton was important to the American Revolutionary War cause because the American victory improved patriot morale.

Explanation:

The Battle of Trenton took place on December 26, 1776, during the American War of Independence, after Washington crossed the Delaware. General George Washington led the continental army through the river to surprise the British garrison of German mercenaries in Trenton, New Jersey. This crushing victory allowed the continental army to take the good positions in view of the Battle of Princeton, which took place the following week.

Trenton was occupied by three regiments of 1400 Hessian soldiers led by Colonel Johann Rall. George Washington's army, which had about 2,400 men, struck with two columns: that of Major General Nathanael Greene to the north and that of Major General John Sullivan to the west. A third division had to attack along the south, but was unable to cross the river due to lack of time.  The people of Hesse lost 23 men and 913 were captured. The American losses were very limited: two officers were wounded, George Washington's cousin, and James Monroe, the future president of the United States.

In the afternoon the American troops had crossed the Delaware again and returned to Pennsylvania with the prisoners. The victory again gave confidence to the Continental Congress, as it had been shown that American troops were able to defeat regular troops.

Because everyone wanted to have an equal say in how the country was run and if the bigger states had more representation, then the smaller states´ point of view would be overlooked and they would be oppressed
