ANSWER

The centroid of triangle JKL is

(-\frac{2}{3},\frac{4}{3})

EXPLANATION

The centroid is the point where the medians of the triangle will intersect.

The median is the line from one vertex of the triangle and goes through the midpoint of the opposite side of the triangle.

So we find any two midpoints as follows;

Midpoint of K(2,4) and L(0,-2).

N=(\frac{0+2}{2},\frac{-2+4}{2} )=(1,1)

Midpoint of  J(-4,2) and K(2,4),

M=(\frac{-4+2}{2},\frac{2+4}{2} )=(-1,3)

We now find the equation of the line that passes through J(-4,2) and N(1,1)

The slope is m=\frac{1-2}{1--4} =-\frac{1}{5}

We use the point-slope form formula,

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

\Rightarrow y-1=-\frac{1}{5}(x-1)

\Rightarrow 5y-5=-(x-1)

\Rightarrow 5y=-x+1+5

5y=-x+6--(1)

We also find the equation through L(0,-2) and M(-1,3)

The slope is m=\frac{3--2}{-1-0} =-5

We use the point-slope form formula,

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

\Rightarrow y-3=-5(x+1)

\Rightarrow y-3=-5x-5

\Rightarrow y=-5x-5+3

\Rightarrow y=-5x-2--(2)

We substitute equation (2) in equation (1),

This gives us,

\Rightarrow 5(-5x-2)=-x+6

\Rightarrow -25x-10=-x+6

\Rightarrow -25x+x=6+10

\Rightarrow -24x=16

We divide both sides by -24 to obtain,

x=-\frac{2}{3}

We substitute x=-\frac{2}{3} in to equation (2) to obtain,

\Rightarrow y=-5(-\frac{2}{3})-2

\Rightarrow y=\frac{10}{3}-2

\Rightarrow y=\frac{4}{3}

Therefore the centroid is

(-\frac{2}{3},\frac{4}{3})

Given the coordinates of the three vertices of a triangle ABC,
the centroid coordinates are (x1+x2+x3)/3, (y1+y2+y3)/3
<span>so (-4+2+0)/3=-2/3, ]2+4+(-2)]/3=4/3
so the coordinates are (-2/3, 4/3)</span>

The perimeter of this hexagon is 52in. Each longer side measure 1 in. less than 4 times the length of a shorter side. Find the l
amm1812

Answer:

x=4.5 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>The picture of the question in the attached figure</em></u>

we know that

The perimeter of a hexagon is the sum of its six length sides

Let

x ----> the length of a shorter side

y ---> the length of a longer side

The perimeter of the hexagon is equal to

P=4x+2y

P=52\ in

so

52=4x+2y ---->equation A

Each longer side measure 1 in. less than 4 times the length of a shorter side

so

y=4x-1 ----> equation B

substitute equation B in equation A

52=4x+2(4x-1)

Solve for x

4x+8x=52+2\\12x=54\\x=4.5\ in

Someone please solve. I keep getting 66 but it's wrong.
sashaice [31]

The unlabeled part of the right angle is complementary to 68 degrees, so 22 degrees. y is supplementary to 78 degrees, so 102 degrees.  z as the third angle in the small triangle is 180 less than the sum of the other two,

z = 180 - 22 - 102

Answer: 56 degrees

How do u solve <br> 1×-2y=4<br> -1×+10y=8
Molodets [167]

Answer: x = -8 ; y = -6

Step-by-step explanation:

1*x-2*y=4

1*x = 4 + 2*y

x = 4 + 2*y

Now you replace the value of x on the following equation:

-1*x+10*y=8

-1*(4 + 2*y) = 8

-4 - 2*y = 8

-2*y = 8+4

-2*y = 12

y = -12/2

y = -6

You replace the value of y in the previous equation:

x = 4 + 2*y

x = 4 + 2*(-6)

x = 4 - 12

x = -8
