<span> From the study guide "Enlighten me! The Great Gatsby": he is a guest at Gatsby's party. While everyone else is caught up in the pursuit of wealth, fame, and experiences, the owl-eyed man seems to be the only one who "sees" the truth. He seems to represent the reader, in that he says what the reader is feeling. He questions whether Gatsby is for real, or just a facade. When Gatsby is killed, owl-eyes is the only former guest that attends the funeral. He seems to have true compassion for Gatsby and feels sorry for the man like the reader does by that point. </span>

just olya [345]
King was a minister criticized by clergymen, so he tried to justify his cause by paraphrasing the words of Thomas Aquinas, a notable interpreter of God's order on earth. He uses this allusion because he wants to underline the crucial difference between just and unjust law, that has been confirmed by one of the highest intellectual authorities in the fields of philosophy and religion. King provides a religious justification for the concept of nonviolent resistance.

Answer:

Parvana's opposite thoughts in the second paragraph is that she saw that her mother wasn't ready to give in yet.

The evidence that supports my answer is: "<em>But that didn't mean she was ready to give in</em>."

Explanation:

From the passage, it is revealed that when Parvana woke up, she saw that her mother looked much better. This shows that the discussion the mother was having with Mrs. Weera helped to brighten her up.

But Parvana discovered that despite her mother looking better, she wasn't ready to agree to what Mrs. Weera suggested.

The use of "But" in the evidence I highlighted after saying that her mother looked better shows the opposite thoughts of Parvana.
