One technological advance I have experienced in detail was the conversion from Imperial to the metric system in Canada especially in the mines I worked at. The advantage was that now everything could be done in 10's like millimeters, centimeters, metres and kilometers for example. The drawback would be that I was accustomed to say with cars to use miles per gallon and I had a hard time to envisage kilometres per liter. Another innovation I experienced first hand was the development of the GPS. This made it easier to locate oneself in the field provided there was good satellite reception and at least for the handheld GPS the accuracy was only down to about +-5meters so was not exact. Only the more expensive GPS like the Trimble could zero one in with sub-centimetre accuracy.

2. On December 1, a company accepted a $5,000, 4%, 90-day note. How much accrued interest will be recorded as an adjusting entry
uysha [10]

Answer:

B. $16.67

Explanation:

The computation of the accrued interest expense is shown below:

= Notes receivable or Principal × rate of interest × number of days ÷ (total number of days in a year)

= $5,000 × 4% × (30 days ÷ 360 days)

= $16.67

We assume there are 360 days in a year

And, the 30 days is calculated from December 1 to December 31

This is the answer and same is not mentioned in the given options

Veronika [31]

Answer:

Price variance = $330 Favorable

Usage variance = $90 Unfavorable

Explanation:

Formula approach

Material price variance

$(0.045-0.042)× 110,000 = $330 Favorable

Material Usage Variance

(110,000)-(0.45×240,000) × 0.045 = $90 unfavorable

Columnar Approach

Price variance $

Standard cost (0.045 × 110,000 ) = 4950

Actual cost (0.042 × 110,000 ) = 4620

Variance 330 Favorable

Usage Variance

                                                                    Ounce

Standard quantity (0.45×240,000) = 108000

Actual quantity 110,000

  Variance in ounce 2000 unfavourable

× Standard price 0.045

Variance $90 Unfavorable

Orange, Inc. has identified the following cost drivers for its expected overhead costs for the year:
Zarrin [17]

Answer:

the total overhead cost is $1,560

Explanation:

The computation of the total overhead cost for product X is given below:

Setup cost = 40,000 ÷ 200 × 4 = 800

Ordering cost = 20,000 ÷ 1,000 × 8 = 160

Maintenance cost = 50,000 ÷ 5,000 × 50 = 500

Power = 10,000 ÷ 10,000 × 100 = 100

Hence, the total overhead cost is $1,560

Companies have the opportunity to use varying amounts of different sources of financing, including internal and external sources
Mrrafil [7]

Answer:

A) Company A is the one that is financially leveraged.

Where there is the presence of debt in the capital structure of a firm, that firm is said to be Financially leveraged.

B) A is true.

A company's return on equity or expected returns increases because the use of leverage increases stock volatility. Volatility increases its level of risk which in turn increases returns. This happens only if the company is operating an ideal level of financial leverage.

On the other hand, however, but excessive debt can increase the risk of default and can lead to low returns or even bankruptcy.

Cheers!
