Julissa Alvarez '07 died in a car accident outside of Santa Barbara over Thanksgiving break. Alvarez was on leave from the college when the accident occurred.
"She has this shy smile but looked very approachable. She was a very strong person and very responsible," Elizabeth DeLaTorre CMC '07 said. "I think she was proud of her accomplishments and she really loved her family."
Alvarez was from Carpinteria, Calif. and had shown an interest in Chicano Studies and Sociology. She was remembered at a memorial mass at McAlister Center on Wednesday and at her funeral at St. Joseph's Church in Carpinteria on Thursday.
