1) replace "f(x)" with "y:"

y = 7 / (6x -5)

2) Interchange "x" and "y:"

x = 7 / (6y - 5)

3)  Solve this new equation for y:

x(6y - 5) = 7, or 6xy - 5x = 7, or      6xy = 7 + 5x.

                 7+5x
Then y = ------------
                   6x
                                -1
4) Replace y with " f   (x)."

  -1            7+5x
f     (x) = -----------   (answer)
                    6x

Quick problem to check!
Andrew [12]

To find the rate of change, also known as the slope, we can use the slope formula with these two given points.

Point 1: (20, 25)

Point 2: (50, 40)

(40 - 25) / (50 - 20)

15 / 30

0.5

The rate of change of this function is $0.50 / lb.

Hope this helps!! :)
