Next time please indicate which problem you want to work on.

One example of an equation with variables present on both sides is

y-b = m(x-a).  Given the slope of a line and one point (a,b) through which the line passes, you can come up with an equation of the line.

Or, given the numeric value of y-b and that of x-a, you could obtain the slope of the line thru the points (x,y) and (a,b).

Line DB bisects ∠ABC, m∠ABD = 4x, and m∠DBC = x + 36. Find m∠ABC. Choose True or False for each statement.
lapo4ka [179]

Since DB bisects ∠ABC and ∠ABC= ∠ABD + ∠DBC, then

∠ABD = ∠DBC, that is

4x = x + 36 ( subtract x from both sides )

3x = 36 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 12

∠ABD = 4x = 4× 12 = 48°

∠DBC= x + 36 = 12 + 36 = 48°

∠ABC = 48° + 48° = 96°

Thus statement A is FALSE

statement B is TRUE

statement C is TRUE

(b) In a group of 140 people, 74 like tea, 104 like milk and each person likes at least one of the two drinks.
Stels [109]

Answer:

How many people like both drinks?

To find the overlap, we can do (104 + 74) - 140 = 38.

How many people like tea only?

To find this, we can do 74 - 38 = 36.

How many people like milk only?

To find this, we can do 104 - 38 = 66.
