No, the atoms in the solid are just in such a confined space and chemically bonded so strongly that they vibrate very fast but isn't noticeable when you touch a solid, and a good example to this is when friction is created, a solid will melt, so when something is heated, it expands giving the atoms even more space to jump around in, and while they try to hold their bonds they end up tearing apart into a liquid. <span />
