John and Tim are looking at the equation the square root of the quantity of 3 times x plus 4 equals square root of x . John says

that the solution is extraneous. Tim says the solution is non-extraneous. Is John correct? Is Tim correct? Are they both correct?

In a triangle , sum of two sides > third side

checking for third side=3 we have {3,3,6}

3+3>6, 6>6 ( false)

checking for third side =6 , we have (3,6,6)

6+6>3, 12>3 (true)

so the third side must be 6
