The diagram below shows the graph of the quadratic function f (x) = ax² + 8x + c. calculate the value for each of the following.
Alexxandr [17]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

The y- intercept is at (0, 6) ⇒ c = 6

The x- coordinate of the vertex is at the midpoint of the zeros, that is

m = \frac{-3-1}{2} = \frac{-4}{2} = - 2

Since the zeros are x = - 3 and x = - 1 then the factors are (x + 3), (x + 1) and

f(x) = a(x + 3)(x + 1) = a(x² + 4x + 3)

Comparing with f(x) = ax² + 8x + 6 ⇒ a = 2

Thus

f(x) = 2x² + 8x + 6

Substitute m = - 2 into the equation for value of n

n = 2(- 2)² + 8(- 2) + 6 = 8 - 16 + 6 = - 2

Hence

c = 6, m = - 2, a = 2, n = - 2

Aleks [24]

Answer:

No

Step-by-step explanation:

The relationship between the number of pies and the cost is not proportional. This is because the third pie is at half price, meaning it's not consistent with the price of the other two.

Find H.C.F. and L.C.M. of x3-y3, x2-y2 and (x-y) ?
maks197457 [2]

Answer:

1) x³-y³ = (x-y)(x²-xy+y²)

2)x²-y² =(x-y)(x+y)

3)x-y = (x-y)

hcf = (x-y)

lcm = (x-y)(x²-xy+y²)(x+y)= (x³-y³)(x+y)

Are (1,1.5) and (12,4) solutions to the equation y=1/4x+5/4
Amiraneli [1.4K]

Answer:

The first set is a solution, the second is not.

Step-by-step explanation:

Testing by filling in the numbers into the equation:

(1, 1.5): x=1, y=1.5

⇒ 1.5 =? \frac{1}{4} · 1 + \frac{5}{4}

⇒ 1.5 =? \frac{1}{4} + \frac{5}{4}

⇒ 1.5 =? \frac{6}{4}

⇒ 1.5 =? 1.5  ⇒ Correct: is indeed solution to the equation

(12, 4): x=12, y=4

⇒ 4 =? \frac{1}{4} · 12 + \frac{5}{4}

⇒ 4 =? \frac{12}{4}  + \frac{5}{4}

⇒ 4 =? \frac{17}{4} ⇒ Incorrect: this is not a solution for the equation
