Box and whisker plots is not that hard, you first have to make a number line that at least has 3 points on it the middle point is Q2 quartile 2 the first dot is Q1 and the last is Q3, normally there is supposed to be 5 dots so the first number to the left is the lower quartile and the last dot to the left  is the upper quartile.
I hope this was some kind of help

Write each of the following numbers to 3 significant figures in exponential or scientific notation. Write each number with only
Bezzdna [24]

Solution :

The significant figure of a number are defined as the positional notation of that number which are most reliable and are absolutely necessary to represent the quantity of something.

In the context, we have to express the given numbers into three significant figures in the form of scientific notation or in the exponential form :

(i). 5590    -----    $5.59 \times 10^3$

(ii).  0.000498   -----    $4.98 \times 10^{-4}$

(iii) 135000  -----   $1.35 \times 10^5$

(iv) 0.000438   -----  $4.38 \times 10^{-4}$

Parallelogram FGHI on the coordinate plane below represents the drawing of a horse trail through a local park:
Masteriza [31]

Answer:

The correct option is D.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the given figure it is noticed that the vertices of the parallelogram are F(-6,-1), G(-1,-1), H(-2,-4) and I(-7,-4).

In order to build a scale model of the trail, the drawing is enlarged on the coordinate plane.

Distance formula

d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

FI=\sqrt{(-7-(-6))^2+(-4-(-1))^2}=\sqrt{1+9}=\sqrt{10}

AD=\sqrt{(1-3)^2+(2-8)^2}=\sqrt{4+36}=2\sqrt{10}

The scale factor is

\frac{AD}{FI}=\frac{2\sqrt{10}}{\sqrt{10}}=2

Therefore the length of sides of image is twice of preimage.

The vertices A and D are image of F and I respectively.

The length of FG is

FG=\sqrt{(-1-(-6))^2+(-1-(-1))^2}=\sqrt{25}=5

Therefore the length of AB is 10 units and length of CD is also 10 units.

The point which is on horizontal distance of 10 units from A(3,8), is B(13,8).

The point which is on horizontal distance of 10 units from D(1,2), is C(11,2).

Therefore vertices B and C are image of G and H respectively. The another corner points are (13,8) and (11,2). Option D is correct.

The ratio of the current ages of two RSM summer camp students Dylan and Mike is 3:4. If Dylan had been 6 years younger and Mike
My name is Ann [436]

Answer:

13:16, 3:4, 5:8.

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio of the current ages of two students Dylan and Mike is 3:4.

Let their ages are 3x and 4x respectively.

If Dylan had been 6 years younger and Mike 6 years older, the age of Mike would have been 6 times the age of Dylan.

Hence, we can write, 6(3x - 6) = (4x + 6)

⇒ 18x - 4x = 36 + 6

⇒14x = 42

⇒ x = 3

Therefore, the current age of Dylan is 3×3 =9 years and that of Mike is 3×4 =12 years.

Therefore, the ratio of Dylan's current age to Mike's current age is 3:4. The ratio of their ages in four years ago will be (9-4):(12-4) =5:8

The ratio of their ages in four years from now will be (9+4):(12+4) =13:16

Hence, the ratios in descending order is 13:16, 3:4, 5:8.
