Devon wants to write an equation for a line that passes through 2 of the data points he has collected. The points are (8, 5) and

(–12, –9). He writes the equation 7x – 10y = 3. Is this a good model? Explain your reasoning.

For this case we have the following equation:
 7x - 10y = 3

 From here, we must substitute ordered pairs of the form:
 (x, y)
 If the ordered pair satisfies the equation, then it belongs to the line.
 We have then:

 For (8, 5):

We substitute the following values:
 x = 8

y = 5

7 (8) - 10 (5) = 3

56 - 50 = 3

6 = 3
 We observe that the equation is not satisfied and therefore, this point does not belong to the line.
 Since one of the points does not belong to the line, then the equation is not a good model.

 Answer:

It is not a good model. One of the points does not belong to the line.

no.....because when u sub in ur points (8,5) does not work and (-12,-9) does not work. He should have used this : 7x - 10y = 6

Sample Response: If the model is good, then both points will check in the equation. Substituting 8 for x and 5 for y in the equation results in 56 – 50 = 3, which is not true. Therefore, the model is not good. Using (–12, –9) as a check results in –84 + 90 = 3. The constant value in the equation should be 6, not 3. In slope-intercept form, the y-intercept should be –3/5.

X power to 11 +101 divisible by x+1 then what is the remainder
emmasim [6.3K]

Answer:

110

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's define P(x) = x^{11} + 101. So when we divide it by 'x+1', we can use Bezout's Theorem which states: that any polynomial(P(X)) divided by another binomial in the form 'x - a', then the remainder will be P(a).

We can use this fact to determine the remainder, because we divided our P(X) by x + 1 which is the same as x - (-1). So we plug in P(-1).

P(-1) = (-1)^11 + 101 = -1 + 101 = 110
