Hello!

For this you can substitute one of the y's with the other equation

-2x + 2 = -2x - 2

Add 2x to both sides

2 = 0x - 2

Add 4 to both sides

4 = 0

Since 4 does not equal 0 the answer is No solution

Hope this helps!

What is the value of a3 - b2 for a = 3 and b = ?
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

26 \frac{3}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

  • a = 3
  • b =  \frac{1}{2}
<h3>Answer</h3>

{a}^{3}  -  {b}^{2}

=  {3}^{3}  -  { \frac{1}{2} }^{2}

= 27 -  \frac{1}{4}

=  \frac{107}{4}

= 26 \frac{3}{4}

The sum of three consecutive numbers is –15. What is the LARGEST number?
soldier1979 [14.2K]
Consecutive numbers are numbers that follow one right after the other. One example is the set {6, 7, 8}. We don't know the three consecutive numbers so let's define...

x = first number
x+1 = second number
x+2 = third number

where x, x+1, and x+2 are consecutive numbers

-----------------------------------------

"The sum of three consecutive numbers is -15" meaning that
x+(x+1)+(x+2) = -15

Let's solve for x
x+(x+1)+(x+2) = -15
x+x+1+x+2 = -15
3x+3 = -15
3x+3-3 = -15-3
3x = -18
3x/3 = -18/3
x = -6

So this means

first number = x = -6
second number = x+1 = -6+1 = -5
third number = x+2 = 6+2 = -4

The list of consecutive values is {-6, -5, -4}

They add up to (-6) + (-5) + (-4) = -11+(-4) = -15
which confirms we have the right values

---------------------------------------------------------

In short, the final answer is -4

use the pythagorean theorem to find the missing side length. 2 write sin, cosine, tangent of each angel.
Harlamova29_29 [7]

Answer:

1) x=5\sqrt{3}

2) sin(a)=5\sqrt{3}/14

sin(b)=11/14

cos(a)=11/14

cos(b)=5\sqrt{3}/14

tan(a)=5\sqrt{3}/11

tan(b)=11/5\sqrt{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

 The Pythagorean Theorem is:

a^{2}=b^{2}+c^{2}

Where a is the hypotenuse and b and c are the legs.

The missing side lenght is one of the legs, then you must solve for one of them. Therefore, this is:

x=\sqrt{(14yd)^{2}-(11yd)^{2}}=5\sqrt{3}yd

MEASURE OF ANGLE:

Keep the identities on mind:

sin\alpha=opposite/hypotenuse

cos\alpha=adjacent/hypotenuse

tan\alpha=opposite/adjacent

Susbstitute values, then:

sin(a)=5\sqrt{3}/14

sin(b)=11/14

cos(a)=11/14

cos(b)=5\sqrt{3}/14

tan(a)=5\sqrt{3}/11

tan(b)=11/5\sqrt{3}
