Though it is easier to use the origin as one of the points to find the rise over the run, doing the question the more general way will help you with lines that do not go through the origin.

So pick any other two points.

P1(6 , 0.60)

P2(8 , 1.20)

Rise / Run = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

y2 = 1.20

y1 = 0.90

x2 = 8

x1 = 6

Rise over Run = (1.2 - 0.9) / (8 - 6)

Rise over run = 0.3 / 2

Technically stated in language, this is the answer. For every 2 pencils the cost goes up 0.3 cents. Carpenters would say it this way.

However in physics it can also be expressed as 0.15 dollars per pencil which is the cost per pencil.

=========================

Just to show that you will get the same answer using the origin you can do it this way.

y2 = 0.6

y1 = 0

x2 = 4

x1 = 0

rise over run = (0.6 - 0)/ (4 - 0) = 0.6/4 = 0.15 / 1

Free_Kalibri [48]

Explanation:

If a person is set to walk on a constant speed regardless of the situations then if the person walks a certain distance with no interruptions in an observed time then her speed can be calculated.

When the same person walking through the room momentarily stops to introduce herself then the average speed of the of the person slows down as it happens with the light wave when passes through glass which is an optically denser medium than the air, but the light wave does not stop anywhere in the medium.

It can be more relevant to the person's speed when she walks wading through the water or the person walks through the sand then the person feels resistance in the sand or in water which reduces her overall speed.

When making maps of the large-scale universe, astronomers estimate distances to the vast majority of galaxies by using:
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

The comoving distance and the proper distance scale

Explanation:

The comoving distance scale removes the effects of the expansion of the universe, which leaves us with a distance that does not change in time due to the expansion of space (since space is constantly expanding). The comoving distance and proper distance are defined to be equal at the present time; therefore, the ratio of proper distance to comoving distance now is 1. The scale factor is sometimes not equal to 1. The distance between masses in the universe may change due to other, local factors like the motion of a galaxy within a cluster. Finally, we note that the expansion of the Universe results in the proper distance changing, but the comoving distance is unchanged by an expanding universe.
