Distance Keith ran = 26 miles

Time it took
= 3 hours 2 minutes = [(3 * 60) + 2] minutes = (180 + 2) minutes = 182 minutes

Hence,

Speed (Rate) = \frac{Distance}{Time} =  \frac{26}{182} =  \frac{13}{91} =  \frac{1}{7} miles per minute

Hence,

Time taken to complete 1 mile
= \frac{Distance}{Speed} =  \frac{1}{ \frac{1}{7} } = 1 *  \frac{7}{1}
= 7 minutes

Hence, the answer is B.

There are many toys in a kindergarten. The ratio of the number of dolls to the number of balls to the number of cars is 7:8:5. I
Nina [5.8K]

Answer:

There are 28 dolls, 32 balls,  20 cars   for 80 total toys

Step-by-step explanation:

dolls : balls: cars: total

7           8          5    (7+8+5)

7           8           5        20

We have a total of  80

80/20 = 4

We need to multiply each number by 4

dolls : balls: cars: total

7*4     8*4     5*4      20*4

28       32      20       80

There are 28 dolls, 32 balls,  20 cars   for 80 total toys

A rancher needs to enclose two adjacent rectangular corrals, one for cattle and one for sheep. If the river forms one side of t
Serga [27]
Basically, what this asks you is to maximize the are A=ab where a and b are the sides of the recatangular area (b is the long side opposite to the river, a is the short side that also is the common fence of both corrals). Your maximization is constrained by the length of the fence, so you have to maximize subject to 3a+b=450 (drawing a sketch helps - again, b is the longer side opposite to the river, a are the three smaller parts restricting the corrals)
3a+b = 450
b = 450 - 3a
so the maximization max(ab) becomes
max(a(450-3a)=max(450a-3a^2)
Since this is in one variable, we can just take the derivative and set it equal to zero:
450-6a=0
6a=450
a=75
Plugging back into b=450-3a yields
b=450-3*75
b=450-225
b=215
Hope that helps!
