Each day, the human heart pumps about 7500 liters of blood. As a simple approximation, assume that the work done by the heart is

equal to the work required to lift this amount of blood from a person's feet to their head. Estimate the amount of work a person's heart does in a day if that person is 1.5 m tall. (Note that the density of blood is 1050 kg/m3 and 1 liter = 0.001 m3.) Given this approximation, what is the power output of this person's heart?

Answer with Step-by-step explanation:

We are given

Volume of blood=V=7500 L=7500\times 0.001=7.5 m^3

1 liter=0.001 m^3

Height of person=h=1.5 m

Density of blood,\rho=1050 kg/m^3

We have to find the work done and power of person's heart.

We know that

Work done,W=mgh=\rho Vgh

Where g=9.8 m/s^2

Using the formula

W=1050\times 7.5\times 9.8\times 1.5=1.16\times 10^5 J

Time,t=1 day=24\times 60\times 60=86400 s

Power, P=\frac{W}{t}

Using the formula

P=\frac{1.16\times 10^5}{86400}=1.34 Watt

yulyashka [42]

Answer:

\sf \dfrac{24}{35}

Step-by-step explanation:

Use KCF method for fraction division.

  • Keep the first fraction.
  • Change the division operation to multiplication.
  • Flip the second fraction.

\sf \dfrac{-6}{7} \div \dfrac{-5}{4}=\dfrac{-6}{7}*\dfrac{-4}{5}

               \sf =\dfrac{(-6)*(-4)}{7*5}\\\\=\dfrac{24}{35}

In a manufacturing process, a random sample of 36 bolts has a mean length of 3 inches with a standard deviation of .3 inches. Wh
Liula [17]

The 99 percent confidence interval for the true mean length of the bolt is CI = (2.8712, 3.1288)

<h3>How to find the confidence interval?</h3>

Confidence Interval is used to tell us the degree of certainty or uncertainty that is existent in a sampling method.

The general formula for confidence interval is;

CI = x' ± z(s/√n)

where;

x' is sample mean

z is z-score at confidence level

s is sample standard deviation

n is sample size

We are given;

sample size; n = 36

Sample mean; x' = 3 inches

standard deviation; s = 0.3 inches

confidence level = 99%

z at 99% CL = 2.576

Thus;

CI = 3 ± 2.576(0.3/√36)

CI = 3 ± 0.1288

CI = (2.8712, 3.1288)

In a basketball game 96 points were scored. The winners scored twice as many as the losers. How many points did each team score?
RSB [31]

set up an equation for this.  x will be the score of the losing team.  x+2x=96.  Then solve for x.  3x=96.  x=96/3 x=32.  So the losing team got 32 points and the winning team got 64
