Suppose that you own a store that sells a particular stove for $1,000. You purchase the stoves from the distributor for $800 eac

h. You believe that this stove has a lifetime which can be faithfully modeled as an exponential random variable with a parameter of lambda = 1/10, where the units of time are years. You would like to offer the following extended warranty on this stove: if the stove breaks within r years, you will replace the stove completely (at a cost of $800 to you). If the stove lasts longer than r years, the extended warranty pays nothing. Let $C be the cost you will charge the consumer for this extended warranty. For what pairs of numbers (C,r) will the expected profit you get from this warranty be zero. What do you think are reasonable choices for C and r? Why?

Develop an estimate for each of the following situations.(at) The cost of a 500-mile automobile trip, if gaso-line is $4 per gal
Olin [163]

Answer:

The answer is below

Step-by-step explanation:

develop an estimate for each of the following situations.

(a) The cost of a 500- mile automobile trip, if gasoline is $4.00 per gallon, vehicle wear and tear is $0.65 per mile, and our vehicle gets 25 miles per gallon.

(b) The total number of hours in the average human life, if the average life is 75 years.

(c) The number of days it takes to travel around the equator using a hot air balloon, if the balloon averages 100 miles per day, the diameter of the earth is ~4,000 miles.

Solution:

a) The total trip = 500 mile

Cost of wear and tear = $0.65 per mile = $0.65 * 500 mile = $325

25 miles takes 1 gallon of gasoline at a cost of $4 per gallon

Cost of gasoline = $4 per gallon * 500 miles / 25 miles per gallon = $80

cost of a 500-mile automobile trip = Cost of wear and tear + Cost of gasoline = $325 + $80 = $405

b) Average life of human = 75 years.

1 year = 365 days, 1 day = 24 hours

Average life of human in hours = 75 years * 365 days * 24 hours =657000 hours

c) Diameter of earth = 4000 miles

Distance of equator = diameter of earth = 4000 miles

100 mile per day

number of days for the balloon to travel round the earth = 4000 miles / (100 mile per day) = 40 days

Surveys conducted in American high schools concluded that 90% of the students in a sample of 400 students had more than one acti
kenny6666 [7]
The sample proportion has an approximately normal distribution, with the mean being the population mean and the standard deviation (i.e. the standard error of the sampling proportion) equal to

SE = sqrt(p*q/n) where p is the population proportion q is 1-p, and n is the sample size.

(Typically, for a confkdence interval, the sample proportion and its complement are substituted for p and q.)

The margin of error will be Zc*SE, where Zc is the critical value of Z for the level of confidence required. The confidence interval, then, will be the sample proportion, plus or minus the margin of error.

For a 90% confidence interval, Zc is 1.645.

So the margin of error is 1.645 * sqrt(.9*.1/400), roughly .025. So your confidence interval would be around [.875, .925]

The best and most correct answer among the choices provided by your question is the second choice or letter C which is 3%.
I hope my answer has come to your help. Thank you for posting your question here in Brainly.

If 675 is 3/4 what is the the other 1/4 and how did you get it ?
SashulF [63]

Answer:

225

Step-by-step explanation:

If you divide 675 you'll get 225. 225 times 4 will be 900. But 225 times 3 will be 674. So each 1/4 will be 225.

c) 3 x (9^2)^3/4 x ((81^3)^5/6

= 3 x 81^3/4 x 81^15/6

= 3 x 81^(3/4 + 15/6)

= 3 x 81^13/4

= 3 x 3^13

= 3^14

= 4,782,969.

f) (5x^-1y^2)^-2 / (25 x^2 y - 1)^2

= 5^-2 x^2y^-4 / 625 x^4y^-2

= 5^-2 x^-2 y^-2 / 5^4

= 5^-6 x^-2y^-2

= 0.000064x^-2y^-2.
